Justification: Endemic to Lake Tanganyika where fisheries catches have declined for more than 50% in the last 20 years due to heavy fishing which is likely to continue. With an estimated generation time of 4.5–14 years, the time period of 20 years can be considered roughly equivalent to three generations. Sedimentation inshore is also a threat to habitat quality for juveniles. |
|
| Population: | Common, but fisheries catches have declined dramatically in the last 15 years. |
