Justification:
Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, tolerance of a broad range of habitats, presumed large population, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.

Habitat and Ecology
[top]
| Habitat and Ecology: |
It is generally associated with streams but it can also be found far from streams, and is found under rocks or logs in predominantly riparian habitat. It can also be found in disturbed habitats such as agricultural land and even urban areas if there are streams. It lays eggs under stones at the water's edge.

| Systems: |
Terrestrial; Freshwater |
| Major Threat(s): |
Habitat destruction is taking place, even within the limits of protected areas. Its stream habitat is particularly sensitive to habitat alteration from agricultural water pollution.
|
Conservation Actions
[top]
| Conservation Actions: |
It occurs in several protected areas, but there is insufficient management of these areas for conservation, and the habitat is being degraded.
