| Taxonomic Notes: | Specimens reported by Savage (1968) from the Serranía de Darién, Panama, are not conspecific with this species and probably represent an undescribed species. It is doubtful whether or not the lost Colombian holotype of Colostethus latinasus was conspecific with the Panamanian neotype and specimens that agree with the neotype have yet to be found in Colombia (Grant 2004). |

| Habitat and Ecology: | This is a diurnal species of humid montane forest that is often found along rocky sections of forest streams. The eggs are deposited in leaf-litter, and the adults carry the larvae to streams. |
