Confirmed in the Reserva Ecológica Mache-Chindul and expected in the Parque Nacional Sumaco-Napo-Galeras and the Parque Nacional Llanganates. Described by Taylor (in Jørgensen and León-Yánez 1999) as known only from the type, but other Rubiaceae specialists have identified additional collections.
