Justification:
A grass endemic to Andean Ecuador, where it is known from at least seven different locales in the western cordillera and probably is frequent in the superparamo. Protected in the Parque Nacional Llanganates, Parque Nacional Sangay and Parque Nacional Sangay. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
