Justification: A terrestrial herb endemic to Ecuador's eastern Andes. Most of the seven known collections are from roads near Baeza, Chaco, and Santa Rosa de Quijos. Large populations may occur in the Reserva Ecológica Antisana, where one collection has been made on the southern side of the Cordillera de Huacamayos near Jondachi. May also occur in the Parque Nacional Sumaco-Napo-Galeras and the Reserva Ecológica Cayambe-Coca. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums.
