Justification: A tree endemic to Ecuador, where it is known from at least 12 populations in the Amazon lowlands. Protected inside the Parque Nacional Yasuní, where it occurs at very low densities mostly in terra firme (N. Pitman, unpublished data.). Additional populations may occur in the Peruvian Amazon. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
