Justification: A tree endemic to Ecuador, where more than ten records are known from the slopes of the western Andes, under 1000 m. Protected in the coastal hills of the Reserva Ecológica Mache-Chindul and the Bilsa private reserve, and in the Río Palenque private reserve. Although widely distributed on the coast, considered Endangered due to the massive destruction of its habitat over the last 50 years. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
