Justification: A terrestrial herb endemic to high-elevation Andean Ecuador. In contrast to Ecuador's other endemic Lupinus species, this taxon is morphologically distinctive and relatively easy to identify. Grows on the Pichincha, Antisana and Chimborazo volcanos, close to the glaciers on Antisana and Chimborazo. Recorded in the Guagua Pichincha volcano, near the crater, but possibly affected by recent eruptions. |
