Justification:
A shrub endemic to Ecuador's southern Andes. Known to occur in a few sites in the watershed of the Paute River, between Cuenca and Paute, and close to Gualaceo. These populations may have been lost to the expanding agriculture and grazing in the valley. Last recorded in 1984.
