Justification:
A terrestrial herb endemic to Andean Ecuador. More than 25 populations are known in inter-Andean valleys, especially in the watersheds of Guayllabamba, Patate and Chambo rivers. The species usually occurs in dry areas with sandy soils and is abundant in some locales. Protected in the Reserva Geobotánica Pululahua. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
