Justification: A terrestrial herb endemic to high-elevation Andean Ecuador, where it is common in the high paramos of Cotacachi, Pichincha, Antisana, Cotopaxi, Ilinizas and Chimborazo volcanos, or in "arenales" with sparse vegetation cover. The populations seem to be stable and relatively unthreatened, because human influence is minimum at such high elevations and most of the populations are inside protected areas. No specific threats are known. |
