Justification: A tree endemic to Ecuador, where it is common in some areas of the wet coastal forest and also known from deciduous forest in Guayas province. Occurs in the Reserva Ecológica Mache-Chindul, in the Bilsa private reserve, in the Bosque Protector Cerro Pata de Pájaro, and in the Río Palenque private reserve. Considered Endangered due to massive habitat change throughout its range over the last 50 years. The species' wood is valued by loggers. |
