Scientific Name: Burnupia crassistriata
Species Authority: (Preston, 1911)

Assessment Information [top]

Red List Category & Criteria: Near Threatened     ver 3.1
Year Assessed: 2010
Assessor/s: Lange, C.
Reviewer/s: Seddon, M.B. & Kristensen, T. (Mollusc Red List Authority)
Justification:
This species has an extent of occurrence of less than 20,000 km². A continuing decline in habitat quality is due to climatic variability which has lead to major changes in water flow patterns in these locations. This is compounded by deforestation, wild fires, stream pollution and prolonged droughts. It almost qualifies as Vulnerable B1, however it is presumed to occur in more than 10 locations, and is therefore assessed as Near Threatened.
History:
2004 Vulnerable
