Justification:
Calamagrostis hillebrandii is endemic to the island of Maui, Hawaii. It was also recorded from Molokai in 1922, but that report remains unconfirmed. It is known from two subpopulations, totaling around 500 individuals. The species is threatened by feral pigs and invasive alien plants.
