This subspecies is listed as Near Threatened, because a sizeable part of its range has been heavily deforested and population loss is estimated to be at least 20% in the past 25 years (based on a generation length of 8 years) due to continuing habitat loss and exploitation for pets. Almost qualifies as threatened under criterion A2cd.
