Habitat and Ecology: Zonally confined to lower grasslands and deserts. Commonly found in creosote-bush, mesquite, saltbush, and creosote-bush-lechuguilla areas. Associated with rocky habitats rather than sandy soils, particularly cliffs, canyons, rocky gulches, old lava flows.
