Justification: Qualifies for Critically Endangered status on the basis of three criteria. Estimated decline is >80% over the past 90 years (three generations), it has a small extent of occurrence and area of occupancy with high levels of decline and occurrence at a single locality, and an estimated population size of only 50 plants. |

| Range Description: | This species is endemic to Colombia. The type locality is near the town of Frontino in the Antioguia province and there are also plants found near Urrao. |

| Population: | The only known population, comprising <50 plants, was last visited in 1997 and was in a zone that was being deforested. |

| Habitat and Ecology: | Z. wallisii grows in primary and secondary rain forest to cloud forest at 1,000-1,200 m as an understorey plant on poor clay soils. The plants occur on steep hillsides and hilltops. |

| Major Threat(s): | This species is threatened by habitat destruction and fragmentation as a result of clearing/deforestation for agriculture (bananas and pineapples). It has also been reported that seed production is infrequent. |
| Conservation Actions: | This species is listed on Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Z. wallisii should be considered, along with Z. montana, as the most endangered species of Zamia in Columbia. Plants occur in the Las Orquideas National Park, Antioquia Providence, Colombia. |
