Habitat and Ecology:	This palm tree occurs on steep slopes and ridges in lowland rainforest between 190 and 900 m.

Conservation Actions:	Felling of the tree has been prohibited. The Juan Fernandez islands are designated as a national park and biosphere reserve and work is being carried out by CONAF to save the native plants.
