Justification: A tree endemic to the eastern slopes of the Andes in Ecuador, where it has only been collected around Baeza. Many collections are from forest remnants or isolated trees left standing in pastures. Although the species has not been recorded inside Ecuador’s protected areas network, it probably occurs inside the Reserva Ecológica Cayambe-Coca and the Reserva Ecológica Antisana. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
