Justification: A tree endemic to the cloud forest of the western slopes of the Ecuadorean Andes, which are being rapidly deforested. Most of the four known populations of I. Balsapambensis are from forest remnants or from isolated trees left standing in pastures. Occurs along the old Quito-Santo Domingo, below Chiriboga. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known. |
