Population: At least 11 populations are said to remain on four of the islands, amounting to over 250 individuals. The majority of them are found on Hawaii at Puuwaawaa and Pohakuloa and areas in between.

Habitat and Ecology: A species scattered mainly in dry forest on lava flows up to 1,740 m.
