Range Description: The range of this species, as it is currently taxonomically defined, ranges over parts of Central Africa from Cameroon in the west, through Central Africa and northern Democratic Republic of the Congo to southern Sudan; disjunctly in southern Tanzania and northern Malawi; and from southern Democratic Republic of the Congo, through much of Southern Africa, as far south as northeastern South Africa and Swaziland. It occurs from sea level to 1,500 m asl.
