Scientific Name: Pantanodon madagascariensis
Species Authority: (Arnoult, 1963)
Taxonomic Notes: The placement of Pantanodon is problematic. Based on the most recent studies, it should be placed under Poeciliidae (Parenti 1981, Ghedotti 2000) (J. Sparks pers. comm.)

Justification:
Originally known from rivers on the eastern slopes of Madagascar, between Mahavelona and Fenoarivo. This species is now thought to be Extinct following the conversion of its preferred swamp habitat into rice fields.
