Justification: Oxylapia polli previously was listed as Vulnerable. Improved information since then has resuled in the species being uplisted to Critically Endangered. This species has been reported from the rapids and rocky areas within the Nosivolo river, a tributary of the Mangoro river. Although this species is abundant, it has an extent of occurrence of less than 100 km², and is found at only one location (see IUCN 2001 for definition of location). Oxylapia polli is also subject to a continued decline in habitat due to deforestation. It therefore qualifies as Critically Endangered. |
