Justification:
This subspecies is restricted to the forests between the Lomami and Lulaba Rivers, although the full extent of the range is not known. The wildlife in this region is susceptible to hunting, especially due to accessibility from Kisangani. Its population status is not well known, but it is listed as Near Threatened due to the expanding bushmeat market and commercialised bushmeat hunting which is expected to have resulted in declines in the order of 20-25% over the past ~27 years. Almost qualifies for listing as threatened under criterion A2d.
