Justification:
This subspecies is endemic to west of the Rift Valley including Lake Naivasha, west to Mt. Elgon, south to Ngorongoro Crater and the Grumeti River in Tanzania. Within its limited range it may be in decline through habitat loss for conversion of land to agriculture; however, little is known about its status and habitat requirements, and further surveys are required, pending which the subspecies is listed as Data Deficient.
