Justification: The species was last recorded in the 1960s. There have been many studies within the species range which have all failed to find the species. Most recently in 2001, 2002 (J. Freyhof, pers. comm.) and 2003 (N. Bogutskaya, pers. comm.) where survey work in the Danube delta in the species habitat all failed to find the species. It is unknown why the species has gone extinct.

Range Description:	Lower Danube in Romania and Ukraine, from confluence with River Arges downstream to delta.

Population:	The species was last recorded in the 1960's. There have been many studies within the species range which have all failed to find the species. Recently in 2001, 2002 (J. Freyhof, pers comm.) and 2003 (Bogutskaya, N. pers comm.) survey work in the Danube delta in the species habitat all failed to find the species.
