Justification:
Y. discoloris only occurs in one spring of Lake Dianchi, with extent of occurrence and area of occupancy both less than 10 km². The spring is not well protected and it is threatened by introduced species that compete and alter the habitat of the species (including trout and grass carp).

Habitat and Ecology: In clear spring water. The bottom is sand and some stones with Ceratoph demersum, Spirogyra spp. and some other macrophytes on the ground. The colour pattern between the mature male and female is very distinct.
