Justification:
The distribution range of this species was thought to include the east coast rivers between Antananbalo and Mananjary, Madagascar. However, recent research suggests that A. fuscus and A. brevibarbus are complexes of allopatrically distributed species. In light of this evidence, the assessment for both taxa becomes Data Deficient. Prior assumptions regarding range and population size are no longer valid.
