Range Description:

Indoreonectes evezardi is known from the Krishna and Godavari basins in the northern Western Ghats (Talwar and Jhingran 1991, Menon 1999), Mula Mutha river (Kharat et al. 2003), Pavna river (Chandanshive et al. 2007), Bhim- Sina- Man (Jadhav and Yadhav 2009) and Cauvery River (Remadevi et al. 2002). Pati and Agrawal (2002) described a hypogean population of I. evezardi from Kotumsar cave along the bank of river Kanger in the Kanger Valley National park, Bastar, India.

Population: There is no information on the population of I. evezardi. It is a very common species in the northern Western Ghats.

Habitat and Ecology [top]

Habitat and Ecology: Inhabits streams with pebbly bed (Menon 1999). Hypogean populations of I. evezardi are present in the Bastar region of Central India. Animals migrate upstream for reproduction.

Major Threat(s): It is threatened by pollution in the Mula-Mutha river.
